Right now, as you read this page, there is a likely chance tht you have a spirit next to you, reading along with you. This spirit can be a dead soul that hasn't passed on to the Summerlands yet, or it could be a spirit guide of yours. Spirits are all around us, living with us, and watching us at all times. Most spirits choose not to interact with the living, but sometimes they will either talk to someone, move objects, inhabit an area and live there, or do many other different things. For example, our Coven practices at a field fairly close to us. One Saturday, not too long ago, we went to our field to clean up the remnants of our visit to the field the week before. We had left out pan of seeds for the birds, a pumpkin for any animal that would lik it, and a jug of water for our bonfires. This Saturday night, we went to our field to find that we were not alone. Our field had been taken over by spirits. These spirits didn't care for our being there, and they attacked us. Needless to say, this was a very unpleasant experience.
Spirit guides are very different from the common spirits that inhabit our world. Spirit guides can be of any spirit, be it Animal, relative, or deity. My spirit guides are animals, mainly because I have chosen not to recognize my other spirit counterparts. I only recognize the animal spirits that guide me (this practice is also called Shamanism). I have a large range of animal spirits guiding me. They all play a part in my daily life, and I always recognize the ones that are with me when I meditate or relax. My spirit guides include: Wolf (also my soul guide, meaning she has been with me for every incarnation), Orca, Dolphin, Crow/Raven, Dragon (yes, mythical creatures can be spirit guides), and many othrs that I still need to get to know.
There is no limit as to how many spirit guides you can have, but eveyone has at least one spirit guide, be it an animal spirit guide or other.
