web design: your final exam

by Mr. Evenski

"Use these directions as you would use a lighthouse in a dense fog. Do not drift hopelessly on the vicissitudes of final exams, the mother of all perigee academic tides."

Design and create one web page for use by next semester's class on one facet of Dreamweaver, HTML, or Flash. It should be something teachable in one class period.

Do as much planning and creation ahead as you'd like. Come with at least your "how to" steps written (and tested) and any images you will use saved in an accessible folder. You can do the whole thing ahead if you want.

Save the page in the Computer Educationclass folder named "Final Project Page." Also save it in a special folder inside your student folder, which I can also access. Don't forget, you need to have not only the web page, but also all your images and buttons placed in the same folders.

Follow these specific directions.

Setup:
· Page size: 1024 x 768.
· Background color: light gray (#CCCCCC) or your choice.
· Title: "How to…" Use heading size 1 or 2; white (#FFFFFF) "Web Design :  How to . . ." Heading should span the width of the page. You may use Flash text.
· Subtitle: Include a much smaller sub head with "by Your (First) Name."
· Link colors: link #990033; vlink #660033; alink #00CCFF (or your choices)
· Font: Verdana. Body copy size 2 Color: maroon (#990033)
· Layout: A five-cell table, with a title spanning the page; two adjacent cells with an image in one and your text in another; smaller cells at the bottom with your link and signature. (Or use your own well-though-out design)

· Text: Clearly state your purpose or objective. Give brief background or framework first if appropriate. Use bulleted step-by-step directions in a table cell adjacent to the big image. This is the most important element

· Image: You may use a large, related overall image to the left of your text. Or you may use smaller images to illustrate steps as appropriate. Keep it simple and keep file size small.
· Captions: size one italic with a larger, bolded "lead in." Include a photo credit if one is necessary.
