 | This is the page dedicated to my absolute favorite male comics character of all time. Pete Wisdom, bad tempered Brit with the mutant ability to shoot hot-knives out of his fingers. He first appeared to me in the pages of Excalibur (#86), and evolved into the boyfriend of Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat. He's got the greatest sense of humor around, and he refuses to wear the spandax costume, going instead for the black trenchcoat over a suit look. And he's a hero because "it needed doing", his only excuse for saving the life of a complete stranger and taking three bullets doing so. That makes him special. My favorite stories with him in it: the Dream Nails Trilogy, where he and Kitty become an official couple (Excalibur 88-90). The way they start out hating eachother and then learn that they're really pretty special is wonderful. Then there's the Pryde and Wisdom Limited Series, which is great, because it's them. Also Excalibur 102 has this really funny scene with Pete and Kitty in a pub when they get attacked by enemies Black Air. |
I miss seeing this guy more than any other comics character killed off or regulated to comics limbo. His sense of humor tied in right with mine own, a sort of sarcastic dry kind. He added something to the Excalibur comics that they hadn't ever had with any other character, and putting him with Kitty was the exact perfect combination for laughs, romance, and adventure.
