I was so excited when I heard that one of my all-time favorite characters, namely Kitty Pryde, was going to be on the new X-Men TV show's lineup. I was terrified that they'd ruin her though, and put her back into that annoying brat that she was in the early days of the comics. And so far, my fears have been relativly unfounded. Her appearance is right, the costume looks good. But they've given her this, like, total valley girl way of talking, which is like, so annoying...(she what I mean?) The girl is supposed to be a child genius, but they've got her sounding, and sometimes acting, like someone from Clueless. Other than that rather crucial bit of her personality, they've done a good job.

One of the good things that they've done is they've kept her sense of humor. She isn't the same without it. Kitty: (after Kurt collapses) Say something Kurt, please! Tease me, scare me, anything. Please don't be dead! Come on Kitty, okay, what would Wolverine do? I mean besides dice up, like half the landscape? [a moment later] Kitty: Come on Kurt, wake up. You know I'm still not big on facial hair, but, like, pointy ears are starting to work for me. (Rogue Recruit)

What I like about this new Shadowcat is that she is being portrayed as the 15 year-old that she really is, as opposed to the adult-child of the comic books. In the comics, she has had three or four comic years as an X-Man, which puts her about at eighteen. I love that Kitty, but with Evolution, I hope to be able to like the fifteen year-old Kitty as well. Small side note-I want the Shadowcat action figure for the comics to come out!
