Notes for Edmund GORVETT

Dr. Edmund A. Gorvett, 55, an internal medicine specialist at Passavant Memorial hospital and faculty member of the Northwestern university medical school, died yesterday. Dr. Gorvett suffered a heart attack Sunday in his home at 522 N. Elmwood av., Oak Park, and was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the chapel at 203 S. Marion st., Oak park.

Joined Staff in 1937

He had joined the Passavant medical staff in 1937 and was president of the staff for 1960 and 61. He maintained offices at 700 N. Michigan av.

Dr. Gorvett was an assistant Professor of medicine in the Northwestern university medical school. He received his medical degree at Northwestern in 1934. He joined the school's faculty in 1935 and became an assistant professor in 1956. He also was a consultant on gastroenterology at Hines Veterans hospital.

Major During War

He served in the Pacific during World War II as a major in the army medical corps.

Dr. Gorvett is survived by his widow, Margaret; a son, Edmund A. Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. Sue Ann Novak; his mother, Mrs. Tillie Gorvett; a brother, and three grandchildren.
