The Tigger Movie

In a follow-up to my review for ”Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin”, I am now writing a review for “The Tigger Movie”. The movie, while not entirely bad, is noticeably worse than most other Pooh movies. A main reason is because Paul Winchell, the original Tigger, has been replaced with someone whose name I can’t remember. His voice just doesn’t have that certain, well, bounce to it. Also, it repeats those famous Pooh lines we know so well, like “You never can tell with Tiggers”, and the change from “bees” to “Tiggers” isn’t original enough to avoid being labeled “cliche”. Same goes with “These are the wrong sorts of bees” verses “These bees are definitely not the right sort of bees”. In addition, in “Pooh’s Grand Adventure” Piglet shows definite signs of bravery, Tigger loses self-esteem because his tail loses strength, Eeyore is much wiser, and Rabbit is more developed, basically dumb with flashes of intelligence. Here Piglet has no courage, Tigger has limitless strength, Eeyore goes back to assuming the role of a pathetic loser, and we don’t get a sense of Rabbit being smart of dumb. And Christopher Robin just appears out of nowhere at the end, as if, as my dad put it, he’s saying “Hello, Pooh! I’m home from college!” However, there are many funny moments: Owl tries to laugh like a tigger and ends up hooting like, well, an owl. Tigger sends a rock down to crush Eeyore’s house right as he leaves, and jumps on it right as Rabbit fixes it a few scenes later. Tigger looks through a barrel and finds an apple core. “Look! This may have belonged to my uncle!” he proudly proclaims. It could be better, but it could be a hell of a lot worse.
