"Automatic for the People" by R.E.M. is a masterpiece. And believe me, I'm hard to impress (WOW!!! A BLUE CAR!!!) But seriously, it's got everything you want in an alternitave album: great lyrics, great music structure, great everything. You've got a song about suicide, a song apparently about babysitting a sidewinder, a song about Andy Kauffman (see "Man on the Moon review), and songs that don't seem to be about anything in paticular. However, they all rock. None of them are songs about the apocolypse being sung at quadruple speed, but who cares, right?
My Grade:A
My Favorite Things About this Album
I went walking through the land.
I saw you buried in the sand.
A friend was there to hold your hand.
I walked on by.
Then I went walking through the street.
I saw you strung up in a tree.
A women who nelt there said to me
"Hold your tounge."
"Hold your tounge."
