In this class, students learn the tree species and the various plant species in Connecticut. Use of a compass to navigate in the woods is taught and compasses are used in the field. Identification of the tools and precautions that must be taken are also taught. Students go out in the woods and apply what they have learned. Careful attention is paid to proper safety when out in the field. This class is excellent for the avid outdoor student. Students who are members of the FFA can also be involved in the Forestry Team. Proper usage of tools and their identification, identifying tree species, and several other related concepts are a part of the Forestry Team.
