Tommy Burns
Tommy Burns, one of Scotland's most talented players, played at Parkhead for 15 years, from 1975 to 1989. The left-sided
midfielder made over 400 appearances for Celtic and won six Championship badges, four Scottish Cup winners' medals and a
League Cup medal. He made eight international appearances and his turbulent times with authority inspired a comic strip called
'Tommy's Troubles.
Tommy Burns managed Celtic for three years between 1994 and 1997. He won the Scottish Cup in 1995 and guided Celtic to the
League Cup Final during the previous season. Tommy brought in some great players, such as Morten Weighorst, Jackie
MacNamara and Alan Stubbs, all of whom only showed their true quality after his departure. He will also be remembered for
bringing in Pierre van Hoojidonk, Paolo Di Canio, and Jorge Cadete. All three were brilliant players and crowd pleasers, who
unfortunately for Tommy and Celtic, were also trouble makers.
