No One Else Comes Close

Chapter Ten We were on the plane to New York a couple days later. Vanessa and I were very nervous and the guys could tell.
"Calm down," Nick said to Vanessa. "Everything's gonna go great."
"But Nick are you sure we won't be in the way?" she asked thinking of all the cameras that will constantly be on our guys.
"Nah, you can go with us just about every where. We won't be able to give you 100% of our attention all the time. Mostly just when we're alone," he said. His blue eyes looked at her confidently and smiled. He put his arm around her; "I love you so much!" he said and squeezed her tightly.
She smiled and nuzzled her head against his, "I love you too Nick."
I yawned and opened my eyes. I must have fallen asleep. When I woke up I sat up a little bit and looked next to me where AJ was. He had a baseball cap on backwards and was engulfed in something that he was writing. He didn't even notice I had woke up. I looked across the isle at Nick and Vanessa. They had their heads close to each other and were whispering to each other. I sighed. Everything was so perfect! I was with a man I loved that loved me. Plus I was spending time with my cousin Vanessa who was also my best friend since I can remember. A few minutes later AJ lifted his head from his paper and took a deep breath and stretched his fingers. He looked at me and leaned over and kissed my cheek.
"What'cha writing?" I asked.
"I'm working on a song. It's coming along pretty well. Almost done," He was looking over his papers as he talked. He took his hat off and leaned his head against the headrest. I ruffled his hair.
"It's getting long. I was thinking about dying the ends blond, ya know. Then I was thinking that I might cut it before we go on tour." He was now running his fingers through his hair. He looked so tired he had dark circles around his eyes. I looked over at Nick who was now fast asleep. He was pale and had a brownish tint to his eyelids. They worked so hard even on their days off. When I had looked back at AJ he had fallen asleep just like that. I felt for them they worked so hard, they are always kind to their fans, hardly ever have the time to take care of themselves but they never complained. I guess it's because they worked so hard to get where they were today. I loved the fact that they each knew where they wanted to go in life and they have achieved so much of it already. I fell asleep thinking of them.

"Hey wake up!" A.J was shaking my shoulders.
"What?!?" I woke up startled and bewildered. I looked around me AJ and a couple others were the only ones on the plane.
"I've been trying to wake you up for like ... two minutes now. I thought you were never going to wake up. Let's go, the limousine is waiting," he pulled my hand and grabbed the two bags I carried on. When we got in the limousine Nick and Vanessa were already sitting close kissing.
"Jeez don't you guys ever stop?!" AJ said shutting the door.
"Humph!" Was all Nick said as he reluctantly pulled away from Vanessa. Vanessa just smiled and looked out the window.
"So where we off to?" I asked.
"Well since it happens to be 1:30 in the morning over here in New York we are off to hotel to catch up on the 24 hour buffet ... mmm, mmm, mmm," AJ said in his best New York accent.
"Good I'm starving" Nick said patting his tummy.
"Like wise," said Vanessa.
When we reached the hotel there were about 1O girls waiting to catch a glimpse of the boys. When we pulled up the bodyguards were already waiting.
"How'd they know you were coming?" I asked surprised to see anyone out in the freezing weather.
"Well I called our management and told them we were on our way while AJ was trying to get your ass up," Nick said with a triumphant grin on his face.
"And the fans have been here since we got to New York." AJ fn-iished for Nick.
"Oh yeah. Of course," I muttered.
We got out and there were so many flashes as everyone took pictures at once. "AJ!" "Nick!" "We love you!" "Oh my God it's them!" "AHHH!" I didn't think a little group of girls could make so much noise. The guys decided to sign autographs since there were only a few people. Vanessa and I hung back while they did their job. About 20 minutes later we were finally in the lobby. AJ had a bellmen take our bags to the rooms.
"You don't mind if you girls share a room with us do you?" A.J made sure, "I mean Nick has a room and I have a room..."
"AJ, it's fine. You know that," I said.
"So where's that buffet?" Nick asked.
"Like you don't know..." A.J started.
"Actually I don't because I've been going out since we got here, you're the one who likes the buffet food."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," A.J playfully gave Nick a shove.
After we ate we went to our rooms. Vanessa plopped down on Nick's bed. "I am so tried!" she said.
"If you're tired now wait until we get on tour!" he shouted from the bathroom.
"You guys are so... so ... strong! I mean I would be absolutely exhausted!"
"Well this is what we always wanted. All our hard work has paid off and being sleep deprived is just part of the whole package," Nick answered matter of factly as he pulled on a pair of sweats. When he looked over at Vanessa she had already fallen fast asleep. He smiled and walked over and took her shoes off. He pulled the sheet over her and kissed her softly on the lips.
"I love you," he whispered before climbing into bed and falling fast asleep himself.

Meanwhile...

"No AJ, I'm serious! Taurus and Capricorn are like, made for each other!" I said. My zodiac sign was Taurus and he was a Capricorn.
"It's not like a proven fact is it?" he said laughing at my frustration.
"Well no ... sorta .. I mean look most of my old boyfriends were Capricorn, Vanessa is Capricorn and she is one of my best friends and it says so in most of the astrological books."
We reached his hotel door. He searched his pockets for the key card. When he found it he sighed, "Whew thought I lost you!" He patted the card like it understood him. We walked into the dark room and AJ stumbled over a pair of shoes before flicking the switch. I threw my bag on the floor next to a dresser and looked over at AJ who had stopped dead in his tracks and had a pale expression on his face. My heart started to race thinking that he must be sick or something. I rushed over to him and noticed he was looking in the direction of the bed. He looked down at me with wide eyes. I looked at the bed and saw Amanda sprawled out in nothing but her bra and underwear.
