"Hi!" She exclaimed to the burly man.
"What are you doin here?" He asked.
"I suppose Tweedle-Dee Nick didn't tell ya I was coming. You must be Mike. I'm Ella!" She replied and he raised an eyebrow as he shook her hand.
"Poopy pants." She whispered and he smiled.
"AJ, Nick and Brian are in Nick's room. 923. Nice to meet you." Mike smiled and Ella knocked on Nick's door.
"COME IN!" A voice shouted and she pushed open the door and found the three guys sprawled on the floor playing video games.
"Stupid punks....Hey I'm here now. We can stop playing video games and watch some movies!" Ella exclaimed stepping over them. Brian stuck his foot out and tripped her. She landed on AJ and Nick.
"Watch where you're going Ella." Brian shook his head. Ella stood up and kicked his leg.
"Ow!"
"Haha! Brian's getting kicked by a girl!" Nick shouted. Ella narrowed her eyes and kicked him too.
"Ow! Hoe...." He mumbled rubbing his side but before he could react, she was on top of him tickling him.
"NOOOO! ELLA! STOP! I'm gonna pee my pants!" He screamed and she stood up.
"Ew...gross. Let's watch a movie!" She shrieked and turned off the Playstation, grabbed the remote and plopped herself on the couch. AJ and Brian sat next to her and they began looking through the movies available.
"Nick, stop pouting. I don't wanna see the puppy dog look." Ella mumbled not even glancing at him. He furrowed his brow and laid in front of the couch.
"No good movies...Seen em all. OOOH they have Cruel Intentions. Guys, we hafta watch it!" Ella squealed.
"You guys can. I gotta go call the wifey. Nice meeting you Ella and I hope to see you sometime soon." Brian hugged her tight and left the room.
"I gotta lay down." AJ said and grabbed pillows off of Nick's bed and threw them on the floor. Ella started the movie and soon she heard AJ snoring. She giggled.
"He snores loud...." Nick mumbled. He poked AJ.
"Huh...No. Baby I don't wanna wear latex....dirty..." He mumbled and Ella burst out laughing.
"Alex...go to your room and go to bed." She whispered into his ear. His eyes sleepily opened.
"Otay....get my phone numbers from Nick ok? Call me whenever you want. And promise to keep in touch." AJ mumbled and pulled her into a hug.
"You're special Ella." He whispered and kissed her forehead. He stumbled out of the room and Ella laid back on the couch. 45 minutes later, she heard Nick's heavy breathing. She looked over the edge of the couch and saw him curled up fast asleep. Her eyes wandered to the patio door. Smiling, she stood up and silently slipped out onto the huge balcony. She shivered and slipped back inside and grabbed a blanket and went back out. She curled up in one of the chairs and covered herself in the blanket. Silently, she stared up at the twinkling stars. She heard the door open and looked over to see Nick rubbing his eyes.
"What are you doin Ells?" He mumbled and pulled a blanket out of the door with him.
"Just staring at the sky. It's pretty but in South Dakota it's even more beautiful. It's so clear and where I live there aren't any city lights so you can see it perfectly." She said softly and smiled at him. Nick stared at her and the wheels in his head turned.
"You're different than other girls Ella." He said bluntly. She turned and looked at him.
"I know. But it's how I am. I'm not gonna be someone I'm not. This is me."
"Not many girls would just prance around in their sweatpants in front of us after just meeting us." Nick replied. She shrugged.
"You're normal guys Nick. What am I supposed to do? Where a teddy or something?" She giggled. His mouth opened into a smile.
"Tell me about yourself because I'm sure you know everything about me."
"Alright....My full name is Ella Gabrielle Sanders and I'm 17 years old but I'll be 18...tomorrow actually! I was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Still live there. I'm a senior but I graduate at semester so I will be done in three weeks. I am involved with lots of stuff. Um...student council, FBLA, Young Life, church...mostly I hang out with my friends. We do crazy stuff. I'm not a big partier. I mean I get crazy with my friends but I don't drink, smoke, have sex and all that shizit. I don't know what I'm gonna do after high school. My family wants me to go to college but I was thinking of taking a year off before I go to college. My parents are divorced and both remarried but they get along. I have a younger sister and my family life is good. I love my family. Um...I guess I'm just really weird..." She grinned.
"I have a question. Do you always look at the stars?" Nick asked and she nodded.
"What's so special about them?"
"I try and look at them every night and I always wish on them. I remember learning the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and I became obsessed with looking at the stars. Then I started wishing on them. I mean half of them don't come true but it's fun. And I pray sometimes too. I dunno. It's just habit. Whenever I can look at them, I do." Ella sighed and turned to look at Nick.
"Stop looking at me like that butt face. It'll get stuck that way." She rolled her eyes. He stuck his tongue out.
"AJ told me what you said to him earlier. But I don't get one part. Why do you want to make us happy Ells? You know how we feel. Just having fans makes us happy."
"Nick, look at all the hard work you do. How many hours you put in. How exhausted you get. How many obstacles you've gone through. All of this in the public eye and all of this wears you guys down. It doesn't take much energy for us to listen to your music, write stories about you, sing along with songs and admire pictures. I wanted to do something that would take energy to make you happy. To make you see that there are people that notice all the tough shit you guys go through. To tell you what fans think and how much we care. Like I told you, I'm just being me Nick." He reached over and pulled her onto his lap and held her close. She hugged him back and they sat in silence for a while before Nick spoke up.
"Thank you Ella. I'll never forget you ever. AJ told me on the bus that you were part of the family. That you were with us no matter what and now I believe him. You will be with us forever....you should come on tour with us." He whispered.
"Aww...I would but I have school Nick. I could come down and visit or something. But I really will keep in touch with you guys. Let's go to bed Nick. You need to sleep." She whispered back as they walked back into the room. He crawled into his bed and held the covers up for her. She shook her head.
"I'll tuck ya in homeboy then head to my room." She reached out to hug him but he pulled her into the bed.
"Just stay here. Wouldn't it be fun to wake up on your birthday next to me?!" He exclaimed and pulled the covers up. She sighed and leaned across the huge bed and planted a kiss on his forehead.
"Night Nick. Sweet dreams." She whispered and snuggled deep into the covers.
"Night Ells." He whispered as they both slipped into a peaceful sleep.
