Obituary Notes for William Henry Buffington
|
|
Nampa Aug 17-Some Time last night W.H. buffington section
foremand for
that part of the Short Line Branch between here and Meridian
committed
sucide by shooting himself through the head. There is every
indication
that death was instataneous. The dead was committed in a box
car used
by Buffington and another section foremand named Miske Rush
as living
quarters.
Buffington usually got up first in the morning and got
breakfast. but
this morning when Rush awoke he saw Buffington still in bed.
He got up
and prepared breakfast and when he went to call Buffington
discovered
the Latter was dead and cold. Rush said he heard a shot
during the
night but a train was passing at the time and he could not
locate the
shot. He paid no attention to the matter and went to sleep
again.
When found Buffington still had the revolver grasped in his
hand. The
weapon belonged to Rush and the latter said the last time he
saw the gun
it was in his truck and that Buffington must have opened the
trunk and
taken it. The bullet enter the right temple near the ear but
did not
come out.
Deceased was about 43 years of age and leaves a wife, four
children,
mother, two borthers and three sisters. So far as known
there was not
reason for the rash act as his family relation have always
been of the
most pleasant character. He was a man who seldom drank and
last night
was sober. For some little time it has been noticed that he
was been
subject to fits of despondency and during.6
