The most obvious remains of the line are in between Hartford and the Griffin section of Bloomfield, where the newly created Central New England Railway has obtained the right from the Conn. Department of Transportation to operate the line. Originally restored by the state during the 1990s, the line now carries a ton of frieght every day to the Home Depot warehouse in Bloomfield
The Central New England diverges from the Main Line (Amtrak) in Hartford slightly north of Union Station. This picture is of the line and a siding near Edwards Street. The actual junction is in the distance; Amtrack trackage is barely visible running under the road bridge. Note that a train would need to be moving Southbound on the Main Line to junction on to the CNE

The tracks contine to run northwest through Hartford's north end, and are clearly visible from the University of Hartford's campus. At one point they run parallel to Granby Street, as can be seen in the following picture:

The large building in the distance is Weaver High School. The railroad crosses Cottage Grove Road (CT 218) at a new, modern crossing.

Note that at the time this picture was taken (1/2003) the crossing is not yet complete. Eventually the top will span 218 and the trash bags will be taken off the lights. The line then continues on through Bloomfield Center
