Hold my tongue instead of arguing

I will live through the next 12 hours and not tackle my whole life's problems at once.

I will improve my mind. I will learn something useful. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

I will exercise my character in three ways.

I will do a good deed and keep it a secret. If anyone finds out, it won't count.

I will be unafraid. Especially I will be unafraid to enjoy what is beautiful and believe that life is to be savored.

I will do two things I don't want to do, just for exercise.

I will not lose belief in myself. I will adhere to what I believe in, and do my best at all times. I may falter at times, but I will pick myself back up and try again until I succeed.

I will savor a memory today.

I will be thankful for my very good friends.

The Measure of a Person

If you start the day without caffeine;
If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains;
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles;
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it;
If you can understand when loved ones are too busy to give you any time;
If you can forgive a friend's lack of consideration;
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when,
through no fault of your own, something goes wrong;
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment;
If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him;
If you can face the world without lies and deceit;
If you can conquer tension without medical help;
If you can relax without liquor;
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs;
If you can honestly say that deep in your heart
you have no prejudice against creed or colour, religion, or politics;

Then, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog!
