Kimberly Haver is back at Sweet Valley Middle School, and she's running for student counsil president - against me! The unicorns are split right down the middle.
You see, Mr. Clark, our principal, banned students from leaving campus during lunch. When Kim got caught sneaking off campus, her new bad-girl status gave her campaign a big boost. Now nearly everyone's going to vote for her - except for Elizabeth, Maria and Evie, who have stuck with me all along. The unicorns are at war, and I'm afraid this might be the end . . .

May the best Unicorn win . . .

Kimberly and I were alone in the hallway, staring each other down in front of the lockers.
Ever since she came back to Sweet Valley, I had tried to keep things with kimberly friendly. But her running against me for student counsil president made it awefully hard. The whole club was devided. Still, maybe it was time for another try.
"Kimberly," I said in my nicest voice, "I don't really want to get into a big competition with you. Can't we work something out? Maybe we could be running mates or something."
Kimberly gave me a nasty smile. "Why, Mary, are you afraid to compete with me?"
"I'm not afraid," I said evenly. "I just don't want to see so many people get hurt. The Unicorns just got over a big fight, and now we're squaring off against each other again. The club doesn't need this."
"This club," Kimberly said with a sneer, "has turned into the biggest bunch of goody-goody geekoids I've ever seen. I think what you need is a little shaking up. A little competition. A little excitement."
A little trouble was what she meant.
