Shop 'til you drop!
Tonight is too good to be true. The unicorn Clb got locked n the mall after cloing! Can you believe our lck? I mean, who would know ow to take advantage of an empty mall better than the coolest girl in Sweet Valley?
At first we were so excited, we hardly knew where to go: the sound booth to ct a CD, the photo shop to take modeling shots, or the shoe store to try on all those heel our paents would never let us wear. Of course, everyone had their own ideas - Jessica wanted to give everyone makeovers, Ellen begged for an ice-cream feast, and all Lila could think about was clothes, clothes, clothes! We would have wasted the whole night arguing if I hadn't taken control of the situation. After all, I am the oldest Unicorn. The rest of the club just naturally loks up to me for direction.
It's the niht of a lifetime - no grown-ups are around, and I'm in charge. What could possibly go wrong?
Trapped!
"So all the customers are out of the store, right?" Ellen heard the female salesclerk ask. She glanced around the tent at her friends and covered her mouth to keep from laughing. That's what they think, she though silently. Rachel grinned at her.
"The back isles are all clear," the man answered. "So are we coming in early tomorrow?" Ellen listened to their footsteps. The souded like they were etting lose to the frnt door.
"Um . . . you guys," Jessia said.
"What? Is something rong?" Rachel asked, sounding worried. Ellen's heart clenched.
"Yeah," the woman outside replied. "I'm really tired and I'd rather clean up tomorrow. I can't face it right now." Ellen heard the janglingof keys.
"Oh no!" she gasped. "You don't think they're-"
Suddenly they heard the sound of sliding metal and the a loud click. The lights went out. Ellen's stomach flipped.
"Leaving?" she finished weakly.
"See you in the morning!" the male salesclerk called.
"We're doomed!" Mandy wailed.
