Time is running out for Bruce Patman. He has less than forty-eight hours to find out who poisoned him . . . and why. Forty-eight hours before the deadly toxin takes his life.
Everyone around Bruce has a secret. Everyone seems suspicious. Even Lila Fowler, the woman he loves.
Bruce is on a frantic search to discover who wants him dead. And the clock is ticking . . .

Dying for an answer . . .

"You did this to me, Jessica! Why?" Bruce yelled, shaking her hard, his voice growing louder and more hysterical with every word. "What kind of poison was it?"
"Poison!" Jessica exclaimed. "You're delirious! I don't eve know what you're talking about."
Bruce shook her so roughly that her ehad snapped back and forth. "I'm not kidding, Jessica - what's the antudote?"
"I don't know!"
"The antidote, Jessica!" Bruce screamed, forcing her back against the wall.
Jessica let out a strangled cry as her head hit the wall, her back and shoulders pinned tightly. Her heart hammered at her rid cage, and her breaths were short and harsh with fear. "Stop it!" she ywlled, slapping him across the face with all her strength. "Let go of me right now!"
The blow raised an angry red patch on the sallow skin of his cheek. Then, very slowly, he released her shoulders and backed away, shaking his head as if confused.
"What's going on here, Bruce?" Jessica demanded, sensing she'd gained the upper hand. "Are you still sick?"
"I'm dying."
