"This is the police!" shouted a man's voice. "Put your hands up. If you reach for your weapons, we will shoot."
Jessica turned her head just enough to see that there was no sympathy in the officers' faces. Each one had a gun trained on the twins. At the sight of the guns, Jessica sprang into action. "Into the Jeep!" she whispered wildly, pushing Elizabeth in front of her. She grabbed the door handle and shoved her sister inside. Then she raced to the driver's door and dove in herself, as one of the police officers opened fire. Jessica squeezed the Jeep out of the parking space and careened down the street. In the rearveiw mirror, she saw the officers running to their patrol car.
"Stop, Jessica," Elizabeth stammered. "Oh my God. I can't believe we're running from the police."
"They'll never believe us!" Jessica wailed. "Im on videotape, not Scott. Don't you see, Liz? Don't you get it? We're wanted for murder, Elizabeth! We've got to escape!"
