"Tristan?" Alejandro stared at Jessica. "Tristan Patterson, our TA?" he asked.
"Normally I wouldn't need advice about letting a guy know I'm interested," Jessica explained, "But Tristan's older - he's a grad student. I don't want to come across as some sophomore with a crush."
What was he supposed to say? He couldn't suddenly give her bad advise - Jessica wasn't stupid, and he liked her too much to make himself happy at her expense.
"C'mon, Alejandro," Jessica prodded. "Help me out. You're a guy; you know how guys think."
Give her your really good idea, he told himself. The guy's a TA; it's not like he'd make a move on a student in his class anyway. There was probably some kind of policy against that. Alejandro relaxed - he didn't have to worry at all about Jessica and Tristan hooking up! She'd go fot it, Patterson would rebuff her, and that would be the end of it!
And then Alejandro could ask her out . . .
