Mike switched off the engine and pulled off his helmet. He turned toward her, his astonishingly handsome face flushed and happy. "Wasn't that great?" he asked. "I could ride like that forever."
Just looking at him was enough to make Jessica's heart ache.
"It was," sje agreed, her smile reflecting his enthusiasm. "It was totally fantastic."
Mike climbed down, and then, before Jessica could follow, he lifted her off and into his arms.
"What are you doing?" she yelled, laughing. "Put me down!"
"Never," Mike answered, his golden eyes suddenly serious. "This is my idea of heaven. My bike, an open road, and the most wonderful girl in the world snuggled up against me. I'll never let you go, Jess. Not ever."
Jessica wrapped her arms around his neck, overwhelmed with love. "You couldn't get rid of me if you tried," she said softly. "I'm never leaving you."
"Really, Jess?" His stare was so intent, she almost felt that he was looking into her soul. "Do you really mean that? You'll stay with me forever?"
She leaned her forehead against his. "You know I mean it," she answered. "I've never meant wnything more."
"Then prove it," Mike said, his voice a whisper. "Marry me. We'll ride out to Las Vegas. Marry me now."
