Gin-Yung Suh is dying. A crushed Todd Wilkins is devastated - especially since he's been rekindling his love for Elizabeth Wakefield instead of caring for Gin-Yung. Now he must take what little time he has to make it up to her - to fill her last days with laughter instead of tears.
Tom Watts madly, passionately, desperately loves Elizabeth Wakefield. But she's too busy with Todd to notice. Toms determined to tell Elizabeth how he feels, tell her that he's sorry for all he's done. It's never too late for true love . . . is it?
Undercover cop Nick Fox is hot on the trail of a dangerous felon . . . until fiesty Jessica Wakefield gets involved and blows that whole case. Something's got to change for Nick. He can't be a cop and Jessica's boyfriend at the same time. But can he live without her?
Gin-Yung squeezed Todd's fingers. "Elizabeth is a wonderful person, Todd. Don't throw away what you have because you feel some sort of obligation to me."
"Believe me, I don't feel obligated." Todd insisted. Even though he had felt that way before, Todd was now truly speaking from his heart. "I want to be here. Right now you're the most important person in my life. And I'm here for you. I'm not going anywhere."
Gin-Yung's eyes misted over. "I'm so glad." She exhaled with relief. The incessant beeps of the heart monitor permeated the intensity of the moment. Gin-Yung gave Todd an exhausted smile. "We should start the game," she said lightly.
Todd balanced the miniture Scrabble board on her legs. "You go first."
Staring intently at her rack of tiles, Gin-Yung shuffled them around a bit. "You've given me some great letters." She picked up four tiles and placed them carfully on the board.
They spelled hope.
