Something ghastly in the night. . .
Elizabeth followed her sister's gaze. There in the window was the palest, whitest, ghastliest face she had seen in her life. Not quite animal. But certainly not human.
"Oh - " she whispered, backing slowly away. The hideous apparition in the window was more horrible than any nightmare she'd ever had. "Run!" Elizabeth commanded, giving her sister a shove.
Slowly, the face opened what might have been a mouth, revealing cracked and broken teeth. Through the sound of Jessica's scream, Elizabeth could mak eout an evil - sounding laugh.
"I said run!" Elizabeth screamed again.
