Historic Football Teams

1972 Miami Dolphins

The 1972 Miami Dolphins were the only team in the history of the NFL that went undefeated for the entire season. This team went 17-0 and capped off their season with a win in Super Bowl XVII over the Washington Redskins. This team was led by power runner by the name of Larry Csonka and an amazing run-stopping defense. What this team accomplished will be in the record books for years to come.

1985 Chicago Bears

The 1985 Bears. This was a team led by probably the best defense ever and one of the best running backs ever; Walter Payton. The team finished their season 15-1 and won the Super Bowl that year 46-10 against the New England Patriots. In their 2 previous playoff games against the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Rams, they shut out their opponents. Now you must think that all they had was a defense but that was not the case. Their offense was ranked 2nd in the league in points scored and their defense, obviously, was ranked first in points allowed.

1992 Dallas Cowboys

The 1992 Cowboys was a team led by an all-star offense. Passing the ball they had Troy Aikman, a man who could lead a team and had a cannon as an arm. Rushing the ball was Emmitt Smith who is the NFL’s all time leading rusher. Receiving Troy Aikman’s passes was one of the best receivers in the game; Michael Irvin who had 1396 yards receiving that season. This high-scoring team went 13-3 and won the Super Bowl that year beating the Buffalo Bills. In that game, they scored over 50 points.

1989 San Francisco 49ers

The 1989 San Francisco 49ers was another team led by their stellar offense. They were led by the best quarterback ever to play in the NFL. This man was Joe Montana. The reason he was so good was because of his receivers. Among his receivers was Jerry Rice, a then young receiver with a lot of talent. They had the best offense during that’s season with 442 points scored and 6550 yards. They capped off their 14-2 season with a win in the Super Bowl beating the Denver Broncos 55-10.
