HTML HELP SECTION

Well people, all I can offer are some tips, I can’t fully teach you html =/.

I do hope this helps a bit though.

Here are the tips I can give you:

IT REALLY HELPS TO COPY AND PASTE THE CODE (the html in the last and largest box on the page where you edit the style) INTO A SEPARATE HTML EDITOR. Again I recommend using 1stpage2000 so that you can change something and then hit the preview tab to see what you just did =)

Pink text are the “tags” or html …. Red text is the stuff in the tag you can/need to change and that might not/will not be identical to what your html has!!!.

HERE’s How to CHANGE THE PICTURES TO THE ONES ON YOUR IMAGE HOST So that they don’t say SAMPLE IMAGE, and not to mention so that YOU DON’T GET CHERRYSTYLE MAD AT YOU FOR DIRECT LINKING!!!

As far as  the premade layouts... you will have to search through and try to find tags similar to the ones I am about to show you =(

Just experiment  with substituting the addresses to the ones on your own host until you get them right =/.

For customizable generic layouts this represents the main image on your journal~~> <img src="http://www.lisamonique.com/mainimage.jpg"> replace this with the address for your image in GJ image hosting. (Go to IMAGE HOSTING using the left menu of GJ and you will see your pictures and their html)

.
body { background-image: url("http://www.lisamonique.com/basicbg.gif ") <~~~~~This is represents your background image. Again…. replace the address in parenthesis with your own images address on GJ!!!

OTHER TAGS IN THE HTML YOU CAN EDIT.

THE SCRIPT SECTION

(your find these at nearly the top of the html)

body { background-color: #000000; border: 1px solid #000000; scrollbar-face-color: #000000; scrollbar-shadow-color: #333333; scrollbar-highlight-color: #666666; scrollbar-3dlight-color: #999999; scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #333333; scrollbar-track-color: #000000; scrollbar-arrow-color: #FF66CC;}
This section controls how the main page background looks like. If you have a background image you might have the background-color there, but this sets the main background color, obviously.

You use all of the scrollbar ones to change how the scrollbar on the browser window appears. Just change the #123456 (html color code) by putting the colors you like from a HTML Color Chart

Border is used to put a border around your main page background... you can change it's size by making the number next to 1px bigger (2px for example) and you can change the color of the border using html color codes

div {scrollbar-face-color: #000000; scrollbar-shadow-color: #333333; scrollbar-highlight-color: #666666; scrollbar-3dlight-color: #333333; scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #333333; scrollbar-track-color: #000000; scrollbar-arrow-color: #FF66CC;}
This section controls how the scrollbars on each table or box on your journal appear. The same rules apply to these as to the body’s scrollbar.

body, div, td, p { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 9; color: #FFFFFF; cursor: normal } This section controls the font for normal text within each table, it's color, and also how the cursor appears when over that table.

.entries { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 9; color: #FF66CC; text-align: justify; } I’m actually not completely sure on this one… I think it effects the font in your journal entries, but I could be mistaken

.subject { font-family: Verdana; font-size: 9; color: #FFFFFF; font-weight: bold; }This  section I do believe effects the font in your subject line

.header { border: 1px #FF66CC solid; background: #FFFFFF; padding: 1px; font-family: Verdana; color: #FF66CC; font-size: 9; font-weight: bold; } This effects the color of the headers and the font and font color in the headers (you know.. the little boxes in the tables that say ::Header:: in them)

a:link{color: #FFFFFF; text-decoration: none; CURSOR: crosshair} Use this to change your link color and what your cursor looks like when you put it over the link

a:visited{color: #FF33CC; text-decoration: none; CURSOR: crosshair}
Use this to change your visited link color and what your cursor looks like when you put it over the link

a:active{color: #FF3399; text-decoration: none; CURSOR: crosshair}
Use this to change your active link color and what your cursor looks like when you put it over the link

a:hover {color: #333333; text-decoration: underline; CURSOR: crosshair}
Use this to change your link color when your cursor is over it and what your cursor looks.

EDIT THE HEADERS!!!

These should be pretty easy to find  <div class="header" align="center">:: HEADER ::</div> change header to whatever you want to be there or you can simply delete the whole line to get rid of the header altogether.

LINKS!!!

Links look like this <a href="http://www.greatestjournal.com/users/draggiefly">draggiefly</a> the part in “parenthesis” is the web address you want the link to go to, and the part between the >  < is what the link actually says on your page.

FRIENDS!!!

Cherrystyle was nice enough to pretty much hook ya up here if you look close enough you should be able to see a section like this just replace username and Friend with your friends username and you are set.

<div class="header" align="center">:: Friends ::</div>
<P>
 <a href="http://www.greatestjournal.com/users/username" target="_blank">Friend</a><BR>
 <a href="http://www.greatestjournal.com/users/
username" target="_blank">Friend</a><BR>
 <a href="http://www.greatestjournal.com/users/
username" target="_blank">Friend</a><BR>
 <a href="http://www.greatestjournal.com/users/
username" target="_blank">Friend</a><BR>

Well that is all I’ve got for now…. As people ask me questions or as I find out new stuff I will add it here.
