Gophergiraffe

They are a rare kind of carnivourous giraffe that lies dormant almost all of the time. In fact the only three times it moves are during mating season, during a kill, and when it burrows(usually done by the mother about a month before giving birth-hence the gopher part of it's name). Although when it does move it is lightning fast able to move at speeds of up to 52 kilometers per hour. The gopher giraffe grows to be about 2.8 meters in height. But otherwise it looks exactly like a normal giraffe. One of the tricks it uses to get food is to look like it is hurt and when a lion comes along to eat the giraffe the giraffe actually eats the lion. They do not eat other giraffes though, they seem to share some sort of common bond and even sometimes live together. These animals are not incredibly abundant. There are about 100 left in the wild(they are native to Southern Austalia) and 13 in captivity. There is one in the United States and it is currently residing in the Detroit Zoo. They are part of the SSP to try to rebound their population and it seems to be working to a degree.
