Memorial Gardens

The Gardens was built in 1949, precariously by immigrant and steel workers. Many unprecedented deaths occured from careless beam walking and falling materials. It was demolished in 2006 to make room for the new arena Steelback Centre, which was renamed to the Essar Centre in honour of their sponsor, Essar Algoma Steel Inc.

Reports in the old Memorial Gardens, Hall of Fame and Tower were of shadowy figures, footsteps, garbled voices and mysterious electrical malfunctions would occur in some rooms.

There has been no confirmed paranormal activity in the new Essar Centre.
