***All rules and regulations are subject to change according to house owner/operator***

A.) Regulations

A-1. Regulation table length: 8 feet

A-2. Regulation table height: 32 inches

A-3. Regulation ping pong ball size: 40 mm

A-4. Number of cups per side: 10

B.) Shooting

B-1. When shooting, the player must be behind the end of the table and is not permitted to lean excessively over the end line. A slight lean is allowed.

B-2. Players may shoot both balls at the same time if desired. However, a team may not take their first shot until the opposing teams second shot has made contact with the cups, table, etc.

B-3. If both teammates make their shots in a frame they shall be rebuttled.

B-4. Bounce shots are worth 2 cups and may be swatted.

B-5. If the ball hits any object BEFORE it bounces it is not counted as a bounce shot but is still a live ball as long as it hasn't made contact with anything out of play. If the ball hits the table before any other object, it may deflect off of other objects in play and still be considered a bounce shot.

B-6. Teams are penalized one cup if a shot goes long of the table without making any kind of contact with the table or cups. However, a game can not end on a long shot. (Teams with one cup remaining on their side cannot be penalized for going long) Also, a team can not be penalized for going long if they are shooting at the opposing team's final cup. (shooting for the win)

B-7. Cans, empty cups, and other miscellaneous objects on and around the playing court are considered out of a play, unless they are in the possession of a player, and the ball is deemed "dead" after making contact with them.

B-8. Players may not make a ball into their own cup. If a ball is accidentally dropped into the shooters own cup it does not count and the player may still shoot the ball.

C.) Reracks

C-1. All cups must be touching but not overlapping after reracks.

C-2. Reracks are only allowed at the end of a frame, which includes following a rebuttle, and shall occur when the number of cups (6, 4, 3, 2, and 1) are reached. (Note: If a team is shooting at a rack of 7 cups and makes 2 cups, thus leaving a 5 cup rack, the defending team is required to rerack because the 6 cup range has been reached. The defending team may rerack in which ever fashion they want as long as it is in some variation of the 6 cup triangle, with one cup missing.) Reracks are not allowed when only one member of a team makes a cup at the end of the game during “hot shooter” mode. (refer to rule E-5.)

C-3. Reracks are only allowed in the traditional rerack shapes: Rerack Formations

C-4. Calling for, as well as waiting for a rerack is the shooters' responsibility. If the shooter hits the defenders hand while they are attempting to rerack the shooter is held responsible and is only rewarded a cup if the ball continues off the defenders hand and into a cup.

D.) Defending

D-1. Only hands or other body parts may be used to block the view of your cups when opponents are shooting. Cups, beers, and other foreign objects may not be used.

D-2. Blowing and fingering are illegal. If either occurs the cup is counted as made.

D-3. Teams are penalized 1 cup if illegal swatting occurs. Swatting or catching the ball is not permitted until the ball bounces off of the table or cups. If the ball is rolling across the tops of the cups it may not be touched.

D-4. Teams are not penalized for spilling of or knocking over cups, but they are not able to replace spilled or knocked over cups. (Unless the final cup is knocked over and the team goes on to put the game into overtime, they are permitted to replace the cup.) Also, players are not permitted to shoot the ball at the other players cups with the intent to knock them over. (no "fastballs" intended to knock over cups)

E.) Game Structure

E-1. A "shootoff" is used to determine possession of the balls during the first game of the night. All rules remain the same during a shootoff except that one ball is given to each team. The players alternate shots and the team to first make their shot first without the other team making their's receives possession. Teammates must alternate turns if the shootoff lasts longer than 1 frame. All cups made in a shootoff count as made and are removed from play.

E-2. If the shooting team makes both of their balls into the final cup during “regulation”, the game is immediately over.

E-3. If the shooting team makes one of their balls into the final cup, and their other shot is missed, the game is not over but is now in “sudden death”. This means the opposing team is now down to their last chance and must make atleast one of their balls into the final cup to keep the game going. The opposing team is still allowed to take advantage of the “rebuttle rule” to keep the game going. If the opposing team only makes one ball into the final cup the game is now in “overtime” and both sides are back to equal with one cup each. If the opposing team were to make both into the final cup, the first team would then be forced into "sudden death".

E-4. If a team has two cups remaining to make, and hits them both on their turn the game is not immediately over. They shall receive a rebuttle of the balls and they will recieve two more attempts at the final cup, and will win immediately if they make either shot. If they fail to make either ball they now have the other team in "sudden death" mode (refer to rule E-3.)

E-5. The “hot shooter” rule is permitted when a team is in “sudden death” mode. This means that either player on the team facing “sudden death” will be permitted to continue to shoot until they miss or until the game is tied up.

F.) Tournaments

F-1. All previously stated SBPL rules shall remain intact.

F-2. Three 12oz. beers shall be used by each team for every game.

F-3. A "shootoff" is required to start every game.

F-4. The losing team must consume the remaining beer on the table. (no saving beers)
