Mac's are horrible. I have heard many Macintosh users(hereafter known as "users") tell me that Mac's are just better. after inquiring as to how they are better, the response was usually, they just are. But i can name many reasons why Mac's are not only inferior to PC's, but they are horrible.
For one thing, mac's are extremely ineffecient with memory. for every single file on the computer, there is a corresponding file that stores a couple of facts about the file. if you have a bunch of folders on your usb stick, and you plug it into a Mac and open up any folders, for every single file in any of the folders that you open, a file is created to store a couple facts. if you then take that usb stick back to a PC and look around in it, you will see all these extra files that are wasting space that could be used for more files. You notice that this is a one way thing. the Mac has the same file that the PC had, but it adds extra files that waste space.
One thing that "users" use as proof that Mac's are better is that they don't bluescreen, ever. They are right, Mac's won't bluescreen, indicating that there has been a fatal error. Instead, a Mac will just sit there and do nothing much of the time when a fatal error occurs. I would rather know that a bad thing just happened than sit there wondering if the thing is still trying to think, or if an error has occured and the only thing left to do is manually resart. There is some time wasted waiting to see if the thing starts reacting again or not.
I have also heard the argument that Mac's are simpler. I find the Windows help system to be better for me, but that is only my opinion. It might be possible that Mac's give you less choices by default, but you could have anyone who knows anything about computers change it so you have even less choices than on a Mac and don't get confused if you are new to computers. Then as you get more advance you add more features until you have many more choices than you could possibly get on a Mac.
Another thing that I think reflects upon Apple is how they are slowly switching almost everything so that they are using all Microsoft programs for all the basic programs. they are even switching to the same processors that PC's use. And also, they might be using a PC processor, but it's one that's so weak, dell only puts it in laptops. They switched over because now most of the population doesn't want to use Mac's if they only get to use Apple software and hardware, because almost everyone in the real world, some artists and teachers excluded, use PC's.
Also, Mac's are more expensive. You want to buy PC 'A' or an equivelent Mac. the Mac is going to cost you a lot more money than the PC.
This complaint is not about Apple directly, but is about our school. Our school district, as well as others, uses Macintosh computers, except for buisness and programming. Most to almost all of the real world uses PC's. Why do they have us using a computer in school that we are most likely not going to use when we get a job when the school is supposed to prepare us for our working life.
Another thing that is generally annoying about Apple, is that they try to tweak everything so that you can only use it with Apple pruducts. Like monitors, they are just barely different than PC plugs so that you have to have the Apple Computer to Use it, or get a special graphics card.
Another annoying thing that i noticed on the ibooks (Macintosh laptops) is that the only usb port is on the left side. the usb mouse cable is really short. therefore you have to use it on the left side of the computer if you want a mouse. Some might try to say, well, why do you even need a mouse when there is that built in pad?. I'm not dissing the pad, because it works as mouse input fine, but sometimes a fullblown mouse is easier to control or just use, and why make the mouse if most of the population (right handed people) are inconvienienced to use it.
Apple products are always shiny. this might look cool at first, but because of how they do this, unless you spend lots of time and energy (protective cases, being careful), they don't look pretty after very long, they look all scratched up
