MIDNIGHT SERENADE

After a long day at work
I sit and think
how to de-stress
would it be a drink?

Then the clock just clicks away
and the time seems so right
to go view the stars
in the sky at midnight

I wander out the door
and hear the crickets sing
the owls are a-hooting
and the water runs in the spring

The moon is full and bright
as I hear grasshoppers sing their song
and I know that
it won't be very long

I know my day was long
but I knew I had it made
when I went out at midnight
to listen to the serenade
