Questions and Answers
I am in the process of applying for jobs but I am concerned that at interviews the employers may discriminate against me because Iam wearing hijab. Is it allowed for me to take it off for the duration of the interview?
A qualified nurse in Germany
who could not find a single job in any of the hospitals because she was wearing
hijab was not given a chance even in Muslim clinics for fear of alienating the
customers. This is a narrow-minded,
prejudiced attitude against the Muslim population of the West. What does the
hijab do to frighten people away? They
call fundamentalism that which in our view means sticking to the basics of our
faith. In fact, it is fundamentalism
which is against the presence of Islam everywhere.
The Muslim communities have a duty to protect The Muslim
individual by collectively explaining that the hijab is not a threat to any
person, but a dress of modesty and decency not dissimilar to the headcovering
worn by nuns. It shows the honor and
respectability of women and it is PART OF OUR FAITH. We are NOT aliens, and it is a requirement of Islam that women
cover their heads. Therefore it is not
possible to take off your hijab for any reason. Be patient and be sure that if you satisfy Allah He will
definitely and eventually satisfy you, but if you prefer to satisfy the people,
neither you nor them will be satisfied at the end.
