  • 1 pound of Dry Green Northern Beans
  • 12 Baby Carrots
  • 1 cup of Onion (peeled & chopped)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black Pepper (to taste)
  • ¼ cup of Tomato Ketchup
  • 8 cups of Water


  1. In a large bowl, combine the beans with the water, cover and let soak overnight.
  2. In a large pot over medium high heat, combine the soaked beans with water, carrots and onion. Add more water to cover all, if necessary. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let simmer for 4 to 6 hours.
  3. Add ketchup just to get desired color. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
