During my research I have come acrossed some books that had information on my direct line of Leslie's and decided to share them here. Without these books the information prior to the 1800's would have proven more than difficult to find, as records were not kept prior to the early 1800's. These books can be purchased from various places, I found mine on Ebay and Amazon.com. Some of these books have a great bit of information on many family surnames which are far too many to list here. These books have aided a great deal in my research and have been a great help in finding out tidbits of detail about the Leslie's from yesteryear.

This first book is one that was written by Ruth Cleaveland Leslie. She wrote this book in as much detail of my ancestors she could find. My brother Carl Leslie happened upon this book during a search for William Robert Leslie's burial in Pikeville, Kentucky. Although his own research had led him to William Robert, finding this book was a piece of gold in all the information it possesses. This book is filled with lots of surnames and an indepth link to the Leslie's of William Roberts Descendants. I can't thank Ruth enough for her hard work and all she has done, to her we all owe a great deal of gratitude.

Consists of biographical and genealogical sketches of the families of the Kentucky counties - Boyd, Lawrence, Elliott, Morgan, Magoffin, Martin, Floyd, Johnson, Pike, Perry, and Knox. There are also some brief accounts of the communities along these streams, and of the early settlements in the area. (1887), 2003

This next book was a rare find and thanks to the research of the May family I was able to know of this book and have since found a copy thru amazon.com. "The Patterns Of Wolfpen" is based on the Lesley family, those of William Robert Lesley. To find out more indepth of this book you can go to the May's family webpage here

The story takes place at Wolfpen Hollow near Gannon Creek in the Big Sandy Valley of Eastern Kentucky. From numerous references to places in the book, it is apparent that Gannon Creek is Johns Creek in Pike County . There is a Lower Wolfpen Hollow near the mouth of Sycamore Creek on the original Leslie Settlement.

Thru the works of these people we can take a stroll back in time with our ancestors. I will add more as I find any available pertaining to the Leslie's. If you know of any that I should add to these, please contact me.
