The Importants of Plant Life Verses Human Life:

Being human , we all understand the importants of progress. However does progressing or wanting a better way of life have to mean distorying the earth ? No it doesn't ! The earth in her own right is very genirous with animals and humans alike ; we are the greedy distructive one's. Ok , that may have been a little harsh; But true just the same.

I realize and I know you do to , that in order to build we first have to have a foundation in which to build on. Like any other work station it first has to be cleaned or cleared of clutter; Meaning the cutting and clearing timber is some times needed . However, does this mean we should just take and not give back that of which we were so generously given.

The simple fact is the trees and plant life are a basic nesscesity to both humans and animals alike ; the trees and plants provide oxygen by acting as a natural air filter, food , shade , water , prevent land slides or soil wash , enrich the soil with vitamins an minerals , and other things that are vital to our servival. We must replace what we take from the earth's natural resorces with something of equal or greater value ! If we do not , not only are we distroying the earth but ourselves as well .

Here is an example : Alabama has been stripping alot of the forest's for the last few years in order to make room to build Highways, factories and make other such improvements. Since they started clearing and cutting down the forest here we have been experiencing a major drought during the summer months and flooding during the winter months . The reason for this dramatic change is , that the trees and plants are no longer here to help retain and replinsh our water supply during the summer , and because our summer months range any where from 100 degrees to 110 degrees , the water that was once retained and distributaed among the plant life is now being sucked up into the atmosphere before it is allowed to sink in . This cuts down on rain because their is not enough plants to replace what is being evaporated at a fast enough rate , in reture the few plants that are here are not able to retain enough water in which to go because they don't have enough protection from direct sun light and because their are so few water resorces .

The reason for the flooding in the winter month are based on the same reasoning. We retain more water be cause it is not as hot, so more water evaporate at greater slower speed and in greater amounts ; which causes it to rains more often and for longer periods . Also because their are no plants to help utalize the water or to distribute its amounts more evenly. This in turn cause more water to be gathered at the surface of the ground and gives it no place to go .

Rooting Plants:

From watching my husband ; I have learned that rooting has a higher chance of working and producing a much stronger plant if it is done around Feburary or while it is cooler and in a dorment state .

For us here in Alabama , Feburary is the best time to root Roses ; Sure Root or other rooting paste and powders are not necessary during this time . The roses seem to do better if you clip them at the proper angle and just insert them into a pot of soil , water and move to a warm and dark place during these cooler months .
