Book review of the book 'Marooned' by James A. Henderson. (5th January, 1997)
(26th December, 1996.)
This a list of items that I intend to include over a period of time:
Norman Barnett Tindale. My early interest here is why has his been excluded from many books on Aborigines and his name is not acknowledged as the author of the map of aborigine tribal lands in the Western Australian schools atlas. One tribe of aborigines in the Kalgoorlie area has been recognised by two mining companies as the traditional owners as this work states that they had been pushed back West of Kalgoorlie by another tribe. It makes me wonder why some of this early work is not used in cases against some of the Mabo claims. I am not saying Tindale’s work is exactly right but it makes interesting reading and gives a better understanding of history. At the moment I am trying to find out about his life.(1900 to 1994). He died in America on the 19th November, 1993 and I believe he was born in Western Australia. Working from the Adelaide Museum. I have seen a aboriginal magazine that says he is South Australian.
(Since writing this I have located several links about Norman Tindale.) (1.1.1997)
