The Asp

• The Asp is Cleo Nefertiti, a former exotic dancer from Egypt who first appeared in Captain America#310. Nothing is known about her life prior to her joining the Serpent Society. She was a loyal member of the team until she, along with Diamondback and Black Mamba, was expelled for siding with Diamondback, who was brought to trial by the Society in the belief that she was giving away the group’s secrets to Captain America. Cleo helped form Bad Girls Incorporated with Black Mamba and Diamondback, who are her closest friends. However, although the Asp briefly rejoined the Serpent Society, she and Black Mamba and Diamondback have since reformed Bad Girls Incorporated. During one of their first new missions, Asp and the others encountered Deadpool and Shen Kuei (alias the Cat) during a mad scramble to obtain the Dominus Objective, an advanced computer program that allowed sharing of data.
• As the Asp, Cleo has the ability to generate and project an unknown form of energy that causes paralysis. She calls this energy her venom blasts. Interestingly enough, Cleo is always producing this energy, which discharges itself through her skin when it exceeds her body’s storage capacity. This makes prolonged physical contact with the Asp fatal to normal human beings. Yikes! I would imagine that her sex life is about next to nothing!
• SIDE NOTE: The Asp participated in the Acts of Vengeance and had to travel all the way to Canada with Nekra, the Owl, Scorpion, and a few others in order to fight Alpha Flight!
