Character Profiles Centuries later, Elven maidens began to give birth to what the Elven people originally called "furry ones" or "Delmar". The Delmar were at first considered simply a taint in the Elven bloodline by humans. However, as they're birth became more and more frequent, and eventually even the most noble blood could not remain untouched by them. It became an infestation of sorts, and instead of keeping the Delmar as a servant class, as had previously been implimented, the Elves began to ship the Delmar to the Elven borderlands and dumped off to survive on their own as outcasts. The Elven language began to consider Delmar a filthy term, and soon became synonimous with "demon". Eventually the Elves began to hate the Delmar, a blight on the beauty of their land. They were no longer permitted to be in the eastern region, penatly of death should one be found. Children were shipped to the borders at birth, where Human, Delmar, and Half-Elven establishments would take the children into a form of ophanage. Then the elves stopped shipping the Delmar. When the establishments inquired as to why they stopped, the Elves said that Delmarian birth was excedingly rare. So the "infestation" died almost as quickly as it began. They began to think of the Delmar simply as a bad dream. But the Delmar could not so easily forget. Centuries later, the Delmar acknowleged as their own race, established what would be the primary Delmarian settlment in to the southern regions, among the frozen plains. This environment suited their furry nature quite well, and Delmar flocked to their new homeland quickly. Deep hatred for the Elves ran through their veins. The Delmar became isolationists themselves. How pure ones blood was is how their heirarchy was formed. Since Delmarian birth was rare, but not completely gone, new blood was constantly being added to the pool, the difference between fresh and deep blood Delmarians is very subtle, and most people other than Delmarians themselves are unable to detect it.
The southern part of the Elven borders began to thicken. The trees began to darken. It became known as the black forest, and ill rumors spread quickly. Thats when the attacks began. They were unprovoked and unforseeen. All knew the Elves resented the other peoples, but none thought they would begin a war. The attacks were centered primarily at the Half-Elven towns and those human settlements in the immidate area. After the first few months a disease began to spread among the human population. Some Half-Elves were affected, some were not bothered. Elves seemed immune. It was obvious to all that the Elves were carriers of this disease. Some even speculated that it was intentional, the attacks were only half of the plan. One got the disease by making contact with Elven blood. It did not spread from people who recieved the disease, only those who made contact with the blood of the oringinal carrier. The elven attacks begin again. A new kingdom is formed, unifying all of the nations of humans and Half-Elves. The Delmar refuse to join, but will assist in the war efforts. Messengers return bearing this news.
