Dealing With Rejection

Anyone who has tried submitting a piece of work to publishers, record companies, movie studios, etc., knows the story. Competition is tough, and your work goes into 'slush piles' to wait to be looked at by an editor or executive. There is some luck involved, but you also have to develop a tough shell to the many rejections that come in.

Steve and I have received several rejections thus far on our quest to find publication for Talismen, but being a team makes it a bit easier to take! When one of us gets down, the other one can say, "knock it off!" and we keep forging ahead.

As the artist one, it comes easiest for me to deal with rejection (and get a laugh out of Steve) by creating 'art commentaries'. Often these are pieces of art I am working on for other things that I add appropriate comments to, but sometimes I create an image just for the occasion. To see larger versions of any of the 'reject comments' on this page, just click on them.

Hopefully, sometime in the near future I won't be creating anymore 'rejection commentaries'!!
