Opus Jumped A Silverette!
This cartoon was the first Opus N' Andy that was really popular. People seemed to like the inclusion of Dave McCabe in the last frame and I soon learned that putting real people and (later) real events into the cartoon made it a very fun read.
We had a habbit, in the band, of doing what was known as a 'stepover drill' at least once per season. This involves the Silverette dance line lying down on the field, head to toe, in one long line, and the rest of the band marching over them in a large company front. It was ripped off directly from the Cavaliers drum and bugle corps, but it still was very effective. It also caused many a joke to be told by band members during rehearsal ('hey look, a ho-down!'). The stepover drill for that year was 'Love The World Away'; a song which almost everyone hated. In learning drills we usually walked through a drill to a click on a loudspeaker the first day we got the drill. This sets the scenario for the hillarity in this cartoon. For some reason, the original of this cartoon got mangled up and I had to cut and paste the frames onto one piece of paper and photocopy it. That's why this looks strange.
