Lester Conner completed his third season as a member of the Boston Celtics coaching staff. He was named as an assistant coach for Boston on June 23, 1998. 

The 41-year-old Oakland, CA native was a scout for the Miami Heat in 1997. He had been an assistant coach for the previous six years for the Magic Johnson All-Stars, and coached in the Los Angeles Summer Pro League in 1995 and 1996. 

A 13-year NBA veteran, Conner averaged 6.3 points, 3.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.6 steals during his professional career. 

In 1988-89 Conner averaged team-highs for the New Jersey Nets with 7.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game. He also appeared in all 82 games while recording 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest. 

Following a stellar career at Oregon State University, Conner was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the first round (14th overall) of the 1982 NBA Draft. He was a consensus All-American guard and Pac-10 Player of the Year while leading the Beavers to a 52-6 record over two seasons. Conner was inducted into the Oregon State University Hall of Fame in 1994, in addition to the California State Junior College Hall of Fame. 

Lester is active in the Youth for Kids Scholarship Foundation and enjoys chess, ping pong, and cartoons. Lester and his wife, Stacy, reside in Waltham, MA.
