The wonderful manga and anime that is Fushigi Yugi belongs to Yuu Watase. Summary: It's been a long time, in both worlds... Okay, so only about 18 years have passed since the final page was turned in both worlds, but a lot of things have happened. Out of the shadows, six embodiments of evil stepped out, and their prescence is being felt strongly in the world of "The Universe of the Four Gods". Out of the world of the priestesses, four young girls have been called, to summon the gods again. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ~Prolouge~ Hitori Sukunami woke up from her fitful nightmares with a scream, one that got caught somewhere between her throat and mouth, and actually came out as a choked cry instead. Silver gray eyes, the handsome but evil face of a dark-haired teen, a silver mirror in his hands, emanating black energy, five other figures, shrouded in the bleakest shadows. Worst of all, had been the deathly cold wind, like fingers of icy darkness creeping over her arms... a frigid breeze that she still felt now... *Get back to the real world, Hitori.* she scolded herself in her mind, *You just forgot to close he window again.* As she thought this, she got out of bed, walking toward the window next to her uncluttered, neatly arranged desktop. Strangely, the winds had stopped, and Hitori couldn't feel it biting into her skin anymore. That was when she saw it, the book that would come to change her life forever, in the best and worst ways, sitting there in it's own unassuming ways, smack in the middle of her desk. A force seemed to edge her toward the book, and her progress to the window stopped as she turned for her desk instead, and read the letters on the book cover, the "ShiJinTenChiSho..." or in other words, the "Universe of the Four Gods". Hitori inclined her face toward the window, as if she had felt another edge of the chilling breeze, but the window was shut. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ~Part 1~ *Oh geez... What things have I done to deserve this?* Hitori thought as she glanced at her group members for their mandatory study group. Whether it had been by bad luck or not, it was easy for anyone who knew all five girls to see that it was just about the worst possible combination of different people if you wanted them to work together. This ill-fated group consisted of Natsumi Kajiwara, Aiko Sagaiya, Chisa Katsuragi, An-Mei Li, and of course, Hitori Sukunami. The problems with this specific configuration were many. An-Mei Li was a very shy new kid in their class, and most people had noticed that she was too shy to put much input into anything, even if she did any work she was assigned, and that meant the more opinionated Natsumi and Chisa would probably just ignore anything An-Mei said. Aiko was a good friend to Hitori, so she herself had no problems working with Aiko, but it was very well known that Natsumi couldn't stand the more soft-spoken girl. For that matter, Natsumi couldn't work with Hitori either. Though Hitori's uncle was best friends with Natsumi's father, and their mother's had been the best of friends, their children just couldn't get along, and avoided each other whenever possible. Chisa and Natsumi would probably be able to coexist peacefully, but at the same time, they were also rivals, and Hitori worried about what could happen if they got to arguing. Aiko Sagaiya was a very polite, quiet girl, who seemed to do everything well without much effort. At a height of about 5'3'', she was taller than Hitori, and Aiko was very pretty with cinnamon brown hair and honey-gold eyes. Aiko's family owned a local shrine, and if supernatural powers existed, Hitori had no doubt that Aiko would have them. Chisa also had brown hair, though it was darker than Aiko's, and had been cut into a layered style that framed her perfect face, and coordinated nicely with her deep emerald eyes. Chisa was very popular at Jonan, and was a decent student, with a strong background in the English language, as she spent most summers in New York with relatives. To be frank, the slightly older girl was a bit too loud to Hitori, and Chisa was rather insensitive sometimes too, but it was somewhat apparent to most others that Chisa had times when she was nice, too. Natsumi Kajiwara could probably be considered as Chisa's main rival on the social scene, with her excellent athletic skills and outgoing personality. Maybe her good looks had something to do with it too. Natsumi's golden blond hair was long and wavy, and her blue eyes were exactly the color of the bluest sea. However, those eyes were usually a tempest of unbridled fury. No one crossed this student without paying the price. An Mei Li was half Chinese, half Japanese, and fluent in both languages. She was the newest student in their class at Jonan, and Hitori wasn't sure what she was really like, but she seemed nice and quiet, the perfect student. An Mei was also very beautiful, with black hair in a neat cut, and soft brown eyes. Hitori Sukunami was probably the most "average" person in this study group. In school, she was neither popular student nor outcast nerd, and she was fine with that. Her grades were decent, and she could usually score at least in the 90th percentile, in other words, better than Chisa and Natsumi, who thought of classes as a waste of time, but not as good as Aiko's. Her athletic skills weren't as good, and she usually opted for other activities if she could. Her long hair was the color of deepest midnight, and her hazel eyes were usually caught in a gentle smile. Her less than excellent speaking skills were especially apparent when she was called on in class, when she could never give the right answers, whether she knew it of not. Her behaviour was decent, even if she wasn't always paying the most attention to her studies. "So, like, before we start anything, just... I'm fine with failing, I don't care, don't bother me." Chisa Katsuragi was the first to speak up, and that was to tell everyone else to leave her alone. Chisa seemed unable to sense the disbelief of the others as she took out a portable cd player, layed it on the library table, and put the headohones on, then turned on the music loud enough for them to catch some of it. So... she didn't care about the final test of the semester. How this person had got into Jonan, they would never know. Next person to pretty much drop out was Natsumi, not that it really surprised any of them, anyway, "Don't bother me either." she snapped as she took out a magazine on athletics. Hitori's jaw dropped, maybe they didn't care, but... "You know, I really don't think you should be-" no reaction from the two. "Hey, tori-chan, maybe we should just let them be..." Aiko started. "You can't make anyone do what they refuse to." An-mei added. However, Hitori threw all caution to wind as she leaned over the table, grabbed Natsumi's magazine and managed to turn off Chisa's CD player, and spoke again, "You really should devote some time now to studying you know!" she exclaimed in an unhappy tone of voice. This made both of them, well... very mad, to say the least. They seemed to expand in size even as Hitori seemed to shrink, fire in their eyes... "WHAT WAS THAT FOR!" Chisa exclaimed, enraged. "IT'S NOT LIKE WE DID ANYTHING TO YOU!" Natsumi added, for one having the same opinion as Chisa. Meanwhile, Aiko and An-Mei had turned away, determined not to let the activities of their group-mates intrude on their own studying. As Hitori backed away, she knocked over her bag with her foor, and the book she had found last night fell open to the ground. Four beams of brilliant light, one blue, one white, one green, and one red emanated from the "Universe of the Four Gods" as the five girls looked on, surprised.
