Culver City, California
Mr Laurel and Mr Hardy decided to re-organise and re-supervise their entire financial structure - So they took the $3.80 and went into business.

In October 1997, I had the pleasure to visit California, and while I was there on holiday, I met up with the Sons of the Desert, to visit Culver City. In this suburb of Los Angeles, the Hal Roach studios created the beautiful films we love to see, starring our heroes and their supporting actors and actresses.
The Hal Roach Studio Backlot

"Site of the Hal Roach Studios Laugh Factory to the World 1919-1963."
The studio not only used their own backlot to create the films, but also the actual streets in the area. It is still quite easy to revisit locations where the films were made so long ago. Some locations such as the Roach Studio itself have been obliterated, while others, such as the home of Stan and Ollie in their film "Perfect Day", do not seem to have changed at all.

The house used in "Perfect Day" can be found at 3120 Vera Avenue, Culver City.

This is the house used in "Big Business", with Jimmy Finlayson. It can be viewed at 10281 Dunleer Drive, Cheviot Hills.

"Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy - The Music Box 1932. This plaque marks the site of the making of 'The Music Box,' winner of the 1932 Academy Award for Short Subject Comedy. The film starred comic legends Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, who also employed this location in their 1927 film 'Hats Off.' Both films were produced by the Hal Roach Studio. Presented by Hollywood Heritage inc, The Society of Operating Cameramen, The Silent Society, The Hollywood Studio Museum, The Silverlake Improvement Association".

The Harry H Culver Building, now known as the Culver Hotel. Seen in "Putting Pants on Phillip".
In "Hog Wild", the Boys and Ollie's wife have their car smashed by a tram. The building in the background is now the entrance to Stoops Library, University of Southern California.
And finally, this caravan, located on Sunset Boulevard, is alleged to be the same one used in "The Bohemian Girl", although this is still to be confirmed.
