The gems were once again being used in unison, and earth's heroes stood defeated. There was no one left to stand against the might of the gems, no one who could challenge his claim as the supreme being...

Except the Gods themselves.

The Pantheon appeared on the horizon of Thanos' monument to Death, preparing to take the gems or destroy Thanos. It was Lord Chaos and Master Order who first announced their intentions.

"Thanos of Titan... we call upon you to surrender the Infinity gems. Honor this request or face power beyond your wildest dreams."

Thanos did not yield to the presence of the godlings... Galactus, Chronos, Lord Chaos, Master Order, Love, Hate, The Celestials, The Stranger, and Eon. His prompt reply was to raise the glowing gauntlet and say, "I believe you will discover the horizons of my imaginings far wider than you would suspect, Lord Chaos. You address OMNIPOTENCE. Tread Carefully. That which you challenge is beyond even your mystic understanding, BEGONE, foolish godlings, or suffer my Celestial Wrath."

Thanos defends his divinity. Let the heavens tremble.

There was a brief clash of raw power which sent out an 'interdimensional distortion cascade' Which nearly destroyed both Adam Warlock and the Silver surfer. They managed to escape by the speed of the surfer's board, but earth was caught in the wave. The result of this poor luck was the melding of dimensions on the planet, allowing interdimensional scavengers to swarm the planet.

The ensuing conflict occured on the physical plane, mental plane, and several unmentioned others. The first attack was nothing more than a massive burst of cosmic power, once it cleared the two mighty Celestials used planet as weapons, hurtling them as mighty weapons of war. This threat, however, is destroyed by a blast of power without limit. The Power Gem lanced a beam through the planets, which were shattered apart, and the celestials who were scattered to the sides.

Next came the God Chronos, ruler of the timestream. With a massive effort he forced Thanos downwards through the folds of time, trying to drown him within them. Though Chronos is able to send Thanos down through many different periods of time, and even nearly dissolve him in it. However, Thanos possesses the Time Gem, which grants him complete mastery over that aspect of existance. It is only moments before he retaliates against Chronos by what appeared to be a forceful breaking out of the timestream itself. Thusly, within moments it was Chronos who was lost and defeated.

It would not end here, however. The attack is redoubled by Chaos and Order, who seek to divide the titan through his weakness... the division of his natural birth between the two prospects. For a moment he is affected, being torn apart by the double fronted assult. This lasts only for a moment, however, as Thanos releases blasts from the gems which knock back the would be Gods, leaving Thanos triumpant again.

Thanos refuses to surrender his individuality.

So came a ball of energy on the horizon, which soon filled space with the blazing energy of the power cosmic. Eon, The Stranger, and Galactus had abandoned cunning for an assult of brute force. Their forms were cased in the glowing fires of the energy as they struck at Thanos. Such was the force that ever he was momentarily taken aback. But with a single thought he knocked aside the assult, and prepared for the next combatant.

Before his triumph can be enjoyed, however, Mistress Love and Sire Hate begin to attack his emotions, hoping to distract him long enough for the next wave to appear. He becomes immediatly aware of them and swats them away like flies.

Thus comes the assult of raw power. Galactus, the Stranger, and Eon burst forth literally consumed in the energies at their command, smashing into the Titan with blows that would shatter an entire solar system. Thanos is caught off gaurd and knocked back, but his mistake is easily corrected and the three would be conquer's are made to feel true power, the gems working in unison to crush them.

His enemies lay defeated, yet betrayal came forth from the side of the Titan. Gods must always be aware of those who covet their power. Mephisto leaps from a wall of hellfire, seeking to take the gauntlet. This petty being is no real threat to the power of Thanos, however, for he has the six infinity gems, and he is supreme. Before he can dispatch of the bothersome flea though, Mistress Death attacks Thanos as well. Distrought and grieving over a broken heart from his love's actions, Thanos is unaware as ALL of the godlings draw back and release blasts of unimaginable power into his unsuspecting form.

But Thanos holds the Six Infinity Gems. Thanos is supreme.

Unfazed by the attack, Thanos simply wishes them to be locked away, and so they are. It is only moments before Eternity himself arrives to do battle for who is the supreme being in our reality. The inpending struggle shatters the nearby universes, while the two battle in ways and forms beyond comprehension. It is over in moments, for though Eternity it nigh-omnipotent, Thanos has no such limitations. Eternity is as well imprisoned by the powers of the gems, and there is none to challenge the claim of God.
