Gitaroo-Man
PS2
Koei - 200X
This game is pretty cool. Each song is divided
into two play styles. One is the traditional hit the button as it flies by
style. If you can play music games you can do that. It gets a little confusing
because they come really fast and from four directions.
The other style is the impossible one. A line will come on screen and you have
to follow it. To do so, you point the analogue in the appropriate directions as
you travel along the line. In addition, there are orange sections of the line.
You have to hit O at the beginning of each orange section and hold it until the
end. If you mis-time your button press, or mis aim your arrow, you miss the
note. It is extraordinarily hard to use both hands in this manner. Actually,
it is impossible. I lost both arms and typed this with something else.
What I liked:Styles of songs I've never heard in a music game.
Innovative controls.
What I disliked: Impossible.
What to expect: Losing
What not to expect: Winning
What sets it apart from the genre: Impossibility. And the controls.
And the guitar pooping dog.
Ratings on:
