Candles burning low
Lots of mistletoe
Lots of snow and ice
Everywhere we go

"Mistletoe?"
A look of complete confusion passed across Bart's childish face and he stared at the green parasitic plant Cissie was carefully unwrapping. "What the heck is mistletoe?" he asked, wrinkling his nose and prodding at it with one lightning-quick finger.
"I think it was a Celtic legend or something. Mistletoe is something associated with Christmas and is, uh..."
"You lost me around the associated bit."
Cissie rolled her eyes with a smile, and tweaked his ear. Glaring frostily at her, the super-fast teenager stuck his tongue out.

Choirs singing carols
Right outside my door
All these things and more
OH...

Blazing through the corridors of the HQ, Bart, dressed as Impulse, thought on the tender subject of mistletoe. What was so important about a bunch of dead green stuff? He paused a moment in his eye-blurring motion.
Maybe it was a mind-warping alien plot, which would explain why all the girls were acting really goopy around him and the other two!
He rethought.
Nah.
They probably got the flu or something.

That's what Christmas means to me, my love (Christmas means to me, my love)
Oh, oh, oh, oh, Christmas means to me my love
Christmas means to me my love
Oh!

Humming to herself, Suzie 'Secret' floated around the Christmas tree, hooking ornaments onto the tree with partially substantial hands. "Robin! Does it look nice?" she called out and the costumed boy looked up with a smile.
"Yeah! Here's the star!"
Tossing the glittering gold object up with expert aim, he smiled to himself as the young 'ghost' positioned it carefully on the top. She floated back a little ways, squinting one way and placing a hand on her hip, the other under her chin in a look of contemplation. Finally, she beamed and swooped down beside her companion. "It's so pretty!" she sighed, hugging herself in youthful delight.
Robin smiled gently at her and they were both opening their mouths to speak when a loud screeching noise was heard directly behind them.
Whirling around, tendrils of mist and cape swirling, the two super-teens stared at Impulse.
"Guys, I wanna ask you something..."
*
I see your smilin' face
Like I've never seen before
Though I love you madly
It seems I love you more
*
"Mistletoe?" Robin repeated and Impulse nodded his shaggy auburn head vigorously. Sweating slightly, Robin swallowed hastily. "Um, its this...thing...where when...uh...hey, Secret, let's finish the tree!"
Secret, knowing that the pine tree was already furiously decorated, gave him a confused expression.
Impulse's shoulders drooped and he crossed his eyes, making a face at Robin's back.

The little card you give me
Will touch my heart for sure
All these things and more
OH...

Dusting her hands off, Cassie 'Wondergirl' Sandsmark grinned proudly at her perfectly-wrapped gifts. "They'll love these...!" she exclaimed brightly.
"Hey, Cass, I got a question," Bart's voice broke through her delighted haze.
"Wha?"
Spinning around, she groaned mentally. The perplexed face of Impulse was staring right at her, a small frown on his lips.
"What's mistletoe got to do with Christmas?"
Caught off guard, Wondergirl stammered for a few minutes before Impulse, sensing he wasn't going to get an answer from her, shot off, discouraged.
*
I feel like runnin' wild
Oh, as anxious as a little child
Underneath the mistletoe
I'll kiss you once and then some more

Blazing down the hallway, the oblivious speedster failed to see the red-clothed figure of Arrowette, ramming into her.
With a frightened shriek, Arrowette fell backwards as Impulse literally ran into the wall. "...ow..." he groaned, pulling himself unsteadily to his feet.
Arrowette stifled a laugh at the wobbly boy, grabbing his leg and lifting herself up gingerly. Brushing off her ruffled white skirt, she turned when Impulse patted her on the shoulder.
"Yes, Bart?"
"WILL YOU TELL ME WHAT MISTLETOE IS?!"
Arrowette burst out laughing and Impulse's face turned red.
"You poor guy! When a girl and a guy are under mistletoe, they have to kiss!"
Impulse took on a dejected face. "That's it? They kiss? What's so cool about THAT?" he whined, crossing his arms huffily.
"I go and ask EVERYONE ('cept Kon-El) about it and all you do is kiss under it? That's stupid!"
Cissie shook her head, half-smiling.
"Maybe when you're older, you'll understand," she sighed, kissing his cheek quickly.
Turning scarlet, the teenager stumbled a "see-you-later" and then shot off in a blur of yellow lightning.
Arrowette preened herself momentarily. He was just too cute to pass that up... ===AN: YES, I KNOW it's weird. The lyrics to "What Christmas Means To Me" are copyrighted to Hanson. *&-^* I've written a few other Impulse/Arrowette fics, but I'm gearing myself up for a long Secret/Robin fanfic (seeing as people actually REVIEW Secret/Robin fanfiction.
