The Urban League of the Upstate has been serving the Greenville/Spartanburg area for over 27 years.

In recognition of the nation’s best new housing designs, the sixteenth annual in "Best In America Living" (BALA) awards were presented on Thursday, January 13^th, at an annual ceremony in conjunction with the National Association of Home Builders’ annual convention and exposition in Dallas, Texas.

The Urban League of the Upstate Housing Corporation received the HUD Secretary’s Platinum Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing in the BALA competition for the Viola Street Revitalization Project. The revitalization project is a public/private partnership that creates affordable housing.

Sponsored by Professional Builder magazine and the National Association of Home Builders, the BALA program showcases home that illustrate design quality, success in the marketplace, and exemplify the "Best in American Living".
