I bought this car from North American Fiberglass as a kit in 1985. The front suspension is reconditioned Mustang II w/adj coilover shocks, adj strut arms,11 in rotors,Tilton alum calipers. Rear end is a Ford 9 in w/3:50 gear ratio.w/ new Ford posi unit,bearnings, seals 10.5 in rotors, reman calipers. The suspension is 5 bar link w/ adj coilover shocks. An extra 4:57 ratio complete 9 in posi 3 member, goes with it.
The engine is Ford 289 30 overw/TRW forged pistons gapless rings, boss 302 rods cast crank 10 under Crane solid roller cam w/ all parts to go with it, roller rockers, ect. Ford motorsports J 302 alum haeds SS valves, Cobra 7.5 qt oil pan, Cobra valve covers. The engine is balanced, and has Inglese 48IDA Weber carbs w/ all linkage. MSD dist w/ MSD complete ign sys. Steel flywhell,11 in hays clutch, lakewood blow proof bellhousing.A Ford top loader trans,rebuilt w/hurst shifter. new driveshaft.The exhust has 4 SS borla mufflers 2 on each side hooked to the engine in the correct fireing order. at least one 289 Cobra was built like this. The body is hand laid fiberglass and inter walls are chopper gun.

And it sounds like it! Capable of cruising around town but the power to rip your neck off if necessary. This engine was built by Don Scott of Minnesota Motorsports. Those of you that know Don are aware of his quality. This car is all new...no donor parts. The rear is a 373 positrac, 8.8 with 5-lug axels. Wheels are Team 3 with polished spinners...these are true aluminum rims. The headers/sidepipes are jet hot coated...guaranteed not to rust or blue. Transmission is a heavy duty Tremec 5-speed. Interior has the great comfortable seats that are always found in Classic Roadsters. I had the seats piped in red w/ red Simpson harnesses. White guages with red back- lighting really look good in the evening!

1969 Shelby Cobra Mustang GT 500 convertible. Original rust free/wreck free North Carolina car!! This car is listed in the Shelby American World Registry (pages 1066 & 1156). This car was manufactured a Shelby Cobra Mustang convertible in factory candy apple red paint. Complete with a C6 automatic transmission, traction-lok axel, tinted glass, power steering, power brakes, AM/FM with factory electric antenna & tilt pop a way steering wheel. This car has it all. Factory type A/C (installed by dealer when new). XHD suspension coupled with F60X15 Good year Polyglass tires makes for one heck of a ride. This car was completely updated for driving in 2002 including new top and rear glass window. Paint is very nice "driver quality" that is six or seven years old - not perfect, but very nice & presentable. The engine was pulled along with the transmission and both were detailed. Over $ 10,000.00 was spent on this car last year “updating” it for daily/occasional driving. It is, after all, 34 years old. All receipts, including the original factory Shelby invoice & Ford to Shelby order/build sheet form are included. This most desirable GT 500 convertible was one of only 335 hand built GT 500 Shelby Mustang convertibles in 1969!
