Well, as many of you might know (the only people who are probably coming to this website know me well enough), I was the manager of the Boulder based band Bambi's Apartment for about a year.  It all started at Woody's Woodfired Pizza and Watering Hole.  I met JT, the jackass that would become my friend.  Jonathan Tiersten is quite a character.  Half conceited New Yorker, half completely down-to-earth great friend, half hermit-guitar-player/songwriter.  Anyway, we all met at Woody's.  If I were to ask my friends what was more important to come out of Woody's:  Bambi's Apartment or a group of friends the likes of which I've never known, experienced, or deserved... I don't know if I could answer that.  Della, Donna, Dax, JT, Micah, Lija, Ted, Simi, and I all worked at Woody's  Most of us met there.  I see all of these people to this day, or recently at least.

But another group formed at Woody's.  Two of them were listed above.  But we can't forget Mike O'Neal, the drummer.  When JT started the open-mic night at Woody's in early 1998, Mike O'Neal and a transplant from the tiny western Massachusetts mill town of Lee, named Micah Stone, came together and played a little bit at that open-mic night.  They met JT.

And that was the beginning of Bambi's Apartment.

They found a great bass player named Darren Roebuck shortly after and then as the band matured they added Scott Perrie as a sax/keyboard/guitar/harmonica/flute/kazoo player and additional vocalist (no, he really doesn't play the kazoo in public).  The five member band played all over Boulder and eventually played much more in Denver.

Here's a shot of the band and me backstage at the LoDo Music Hall in Denver, CO. (JT and Micah looking like a couple {no}, Mike using his head for a change, Scottie looking under-age [yes], Darren mugging as always, and me looking like I'm losing control over this band [never had it])

In late 1998/early 1999 the band received funding from Nick Capato (NICAP Industries, WA) to record a studio album.  The CD would be recorded at Coupe Studios in Boulder, CO.  The CD was released in mid-1999 at CD Release Parties at the Soiled Dove in Denver and at Nick's in Boulder.  I'm listed in the liner notes... yeah.... as Shep.  *sigh*  Anyway, later in 1999, I decided that I just wasn't putting the necessary time and energy into booking and marketing the band, so I retired from the band managerial position.  I'll say this, it was one of my shortest and most exciting careers.  And months after I quit, JT told me that the others in the band soon realized how difficult an endeavor it is to manage a band.

In May 2002, the band announced that they were breaking up.  Primarily, JT and Scotty decided to try their hands at a different product.  They, with Nick Ryan, had been working on a new project with Nick as producer/engineer and drummer for several months.  They finally decided to commit to it full time and became a band called Ten Tiers.

JT has a fan website set up in his honor by Canadian fan Greg Tiderington at Jonathan Tiersten.

As for Bambi's Apartment, I really didn't like being called their number one fan.  I'd rather be known as JT's best friend or their former manager.  Micah is back in Lee, I'm no longer manager, and the band has broken up, but I'll never deny that I still love the heck out of their music.  And most of us who all met at Woody's still hang out and listen to the old tunes.

Below are some pictures from a Nick's, Boulder gig way back in 1999.
