New Caanan is viewed as the capital of the Affiliation. The Affiliation is the currently ruling government over the planet of Gilead. New Caanan is in the direct center of the Inner Baronies. Many rich people, pratically royalty live here. There's gorgeous halls and palaces located here. Even the remaining of the inner baronies look up to people from New Caanan as living heroes.
