~ Information on the EC Point System ~
For those new to Midlight I've noticed that the single most common thing they tend to get confused about is the points, what they are and how they're used. So here's an explanation...
~ (SP) Skill Points ~
Each time you successfully perform a skill you gain skill points. These skill points you gain are used to purchase (learn) an increased level in that skill.
Gained By:
+ Successfully performing a skill.
~ (RP) Role-Points ~
You accumulate role-points at the rate of one per hour you spend in the Eternal City. During 'Events' the number of role-points you gain per hour sometimes increases. Having bonus points (see below) can also effect your hourly increase. During 'Events' should you impress a GM with your role-playing they may award you with role-points.
Gained By:
+ Accumulated on an hourly basis while you're in the the Eternal City.
+ As an award by the GM's for good role-playing or attending 'Events'.
Things you can buy with Role-Points (prices subject to change):

~ (GSP) General Skill Points ~
This is the measure of the general knowledge your character has picked up along the way. You use general skill points to purchase a brand new skill set or increase the level in a skill you already know.
Gained By:
+ As an award by the GM's for good role-playing or attending 'Events'.
+ You can purchase one general skill point for twenty five role-points.
~ Luck! ~
A luck point has two uses. One, should your character die you can type: luck! and bring him/her back to life. Two, if you are alive when you type: luck! you gain a large bonus to your next action. Everyone starts out with one luck! point upon entering the game, use it wisely!
Gained By:
+ You can purchase one luck! point for two hundred and fifty role-points.
~ Bonus Points ~
For every ten bonus points you have, the rate of your hourly role point accumulation increases by 1/4 point
(Max: 4)
Gained By:
+ As an award by the GM's for good role-playing, they can be gained at any time. One bonus point for the good role-playing and two bonus points for truly exceptional role-playing.
Note: GM's can deduct bonus points for bad behavior; things like, OOC comments or disruptive behavior.
