Chris Lewis (Webmaster)

Welcome readers, to the Wrestling Envy pay-per-view predictions. It's the time of the month again where me and Gary put our necks out and make a guess at what's going to happen. I always mention it, and there'll be no change here either; my Backlash predictions were 100% correct! :) Anyway, now I've boasted it's onto the predictions...

World Wrestling Federation Championship
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho

Ah. A tough one. For a while now I've been considering this match a major opputunity for the WWF to turn Chris Jericho heel but with Triple H now out, I can't see it happening. This will be a good match as all three men are great workers that can and I'm sure will put on a very good show. The outcome of the match will be surrounded in controversy as Austin will tap out to both the Crippler Crossface and the Walls of Jericho at the same time - leaving the PPV at a cliff hanger. Then the match will be forced to continue by Vince McMahon or someone. Now, because of Vince's ultimatum over Austin's alliance, Austin will win. Stone Cold will most likely intervene after Chris Jericho has hit a Lionsault on Benoit - pinning Benoit to retain the title.
Winner: Stone Cold Steve Austin

Light Heavyweight Championship
Jeff Hardy vs. X-Pac

To cut a long story short, X-Pac will win this one. Don't ask me how, but there has to be controversy for there to be a feud between the two - and this usually means the heel winning via interference. This would probably come from Albert or Justin Credible with a distraction and an X-Factor to finish Jeff off, for the three-count and the Light Heavyweight Title. Game, set and match.
Winner: X-Pac

Street Fight Match
Shane McMahon vs. Kurt Angle

Here we go again: Crazy bump alert! Crazy bump alert! Once more, we see Shane O'Mac in another match where he can show off his crazy bumping "skills" - but this time he has an opponent that can bump with the best of 'em - Kurt Angle. You saw the moonsault from the top of the steel cage against Benoit, right? Point proven. The best match of the night for sure. So many possibilities for WCW Invasion for a nice set-up for the following PPV. Shane will win after receiving help from some of his WCW employees. Easy.
Winner: Shane McMahon

King of the Ring Tournament: Semi Final
Christian vs. Kurt Angle

Good ol' Kurt is gonna win this one, giving him a slight chance of winning back to back King of the Ring crowns.
Winner: Kurt Angle

King of the Ring Tournament: Semi Final
Edge vs. Rhyno

This one is going to a battle of Spear against the Gore - the match will end with this angle within, and the Gore will win - so Heyman can shout it - GORE! GORE! GORE!
Winner: Rhyno

King of the Ring Tournament: Final
Kurt Angle vs. Rhyno

So then, the final. I don't really know how this will be won and I doubt the final will be Angle vs. Rhyno also. But anyway, Angle will attempt an Angle Slam but Rhyno will roll out of it. As Angle spins to look for Rhyno, he will get GORED. Winner.
King of the Ring Winner: Rhyno

Confrontation
The Undertaker vs. Diamond Dallas Page (Stalker)

The WWF has probably not made a sanctioned match out of this because they don't want either wrestler's reputation damaged if one beats the other. This will just be a brawl to the end. So then, who can win the match if there's no match...
Winner: No Contest

Gary Griffiths (Columnist)

Hello Fans!
I am back with my KOTR predictions. We all know last month my amazing display of getting 6 of the 7 matches corrrect. Therefore that is a high standard to follow  but Ill try…..read on, and enjoy.

Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs Chris Jericho Vs Chris Benoit

Austin all the way on this one. The only other thing I could see happening would be Jericho and Benoit winning it at the same time with there double submission move, and then the belt being vacant and a tournament featuring WCW Wrestlers held at Invasion. But I doubt that’ll happen. Or maybe they could turn Y2J heel after the match and he could beat down on Benoit –but that probably won’t happen as we’ve seen Benoit – Jericho so many times before.
Another thing I’m curious about is Vince saying either SCSA wins or there through. Now WWF doesn’t usually run an angle like that unless it means something, so that’ll be something to look closely at. But in the end I think WWF are going to want to keep SCSA as  champion so I’m gonna go with a clean Austin victory – Yes a clean one, I can’t see any major interfearence here.
Winner: Stone Cold Steve Austin

Undertaker – DDP Confrontation

Expect a lot of run ins from WCW Wrestlers, and WWF Wrestlers in this ‘confrontation’ , It should be an interesting little segment. This will ultimately set up a match between the two men at Invasion.

Jeff Hardy Vs X-Pac

I’m a little suspicious about this match. When was the last time WWF had a LW Title match on PPV???
The answer my Gazmission reading friend is April 2000! So why do one out of the blue with no real story line leading up to it? Because something will happen, alas I don’t know what – but something will….something.
Winner: Jeff Hardy

Kurt Angle Vs Shane McMahon – Street Fight

Many people are saying this match is only being staged for another big bump by Shawn McMahon – but sorry all you hardcore fans, it won’t happen and here’s why. Shane needs to be on WWF TV all the time next month to promote his WCW company and Invasion where WCW Wrestlers will be. Therefore unless he’s got some HHH recovery medicine then he’s not gonna be better within a few weeks. But I think Shane will win this with help from DUBBA C DUBBA.
Winner: Shane McMahon

KOTR Tournament
Rhyno Vs Edge – Christian Vs Kurt Angle

The winner of this whole tournament depends on when on the card Kurt Angle Vs Shane is. Because in nearly every scenario Kurt Angle is going to be wrestling 2 matches back to back. I think if this match happens before the street fight which it probably WON’T then Shane will interfear. But more realisticly Kurt will be so banged up after the street fight he’ll lose anyway.
Rhyno will win because Paul Heyman has had great backstage pull lately and is rumoured to be writing a lot of the story lines and we all know how big he is on Rhyno therefore it’s gonna be Rhyno for the KOTR win.
Winner: Rhyno

  • Thanks for reading, and I and all the Wrestling Envy staff wish you a happy King of the Ring.
